Why have I been declined?

There will be a legitimate reason for a lender declining your application, but it’s not all doom and gloom. Whilst we cannot tell you why you’ve been declined by a lender, in most cases the lender can. So your first port of call if your application is being declined is to check directly with the lender(s) as to why.

Being turned down for credit can be difficult, especially if you don’t know why so get some clarity before doing anything else. To help, we outline what lenders look for in an applicant, and some common reasons for being turned down in our personal loans page.

Should I apply again?

Although your first thought may be to apply again, this could further damage your chances of getting accepted. It’s a good idea to try to find out why you were declined before making another application.
